Database establishment and administration

·        Manage the database structure: assist in initial database design and implementation stages as well as controlling and documenting all future changes

·        Manage and analyze data activity: provide standards, guidelines, control procedures to ensure that users correctly update data and process database data. Develop, backup and recovery procedures.

·        Manage the Database Management System (DBMS): generate database application performance reports, investigate user performance and any complaints, assess needs for changes in database structure or application design, modify database structure, evaluate, and implement new DBMS features, tune the DBMS

·        Maintain the data repository: maintain data dictionary and summaries on databases, database applications, Web pages, Users, and other application components

·        Organize databases: consolidate existing ecological, conservation, social and other data into a database to allow for integrated analysis and reporting

·     

GIS

·        Build and maintain a geo-spatial database

·        Develop GIS applications that can access the spatial and non-spatial databases

·       Production of digital spatial data from aerial photography and satellite  

  Imagery

·        Acquisition of spatial data from credible sources

·     

Data flow, analysis, and reporting

·        In-field familiarization of data collecting methodologies e.g., SMART system, camera traps, vegetation monitoring, fauna tracker, collaboration to meta-population programes etc.

·        Close engagement, alignment and integration with other internal stakeholders for alignment, data set updates, and support

·        Support data model development and development of templates for data collection

·        Check incoming data for anomalies and verify

·        Undertake spatial and other analyses

·        Write scripts to run routine and specific queries from databases

·        Provide dashboard on important metrics using various graphics e.g., heatmaps, graphs, tables, maps for reporting and science-based decision making
